Wiring ?????

To those who have successfully swapped the Modular engine on to the Fox body.

How did you marry the Modular wiring to the Fox wiring?

I would like to keep all the power options in my Fox with the cobra engine I also have the cobra speedo dash.

I am well aware of the expensive aftermarket kits from telorvek, ron francis and dunne rite. But i have all the harnesses from the donor car from engine to dash to fuel.

Thanks for any help

It depends.. What tranny and year engine are you using?

2004 cobra drivetrain

alright if you want to keep your existing wiring system.

Just wire up the engine with the new computer..
To get the engine started you need to connect the following with the existing harness: Remember these are for a 96-98 Cobra.. I will get the info for the 04 Cobra which shouldn't be to much of a difference.
Remember the Pin out are located in the wiring section of this forum... I am working on a Resource section to make for easy access...
1. Injectors
2. Ignition Coil
3. Crank Position Sensor
4. Mass Air Flow Sensor
5. Cam Shaft Position Sensor
6. Coolant Temperature Sensor
7. Throttle Position Sensor
8. Intake Air Temperature Sensor
9. Knock Sensor (Left & Right)
10 Oxygen Sensor (2 or 4)
11. Idle Speed Control
12. Data Link Connector (DLC)
13. Constant Control Relay Module

Have to run and do Honey dew stuff will be back to update... If anyone would like to share more info please do..

found the pinouts under wiring from modularf post.

so if i read your post correctly.

1- wire up the cobra engine harness to the cobra ECM.. done

To get engine strated:

1- find and jumper the individual ( the ones you outlined ) wires from the cobra harness to the fox harness?

should I replace the stock fox fuse box with the cobra unit?

ok will wait for your update.

Suggest you try the Wiring heading and this link:

http://www.modularfoxmustangs.com/community/index.php?threads/mod-motor-wiring-in-general.678/

Also here's a wiring diagram of the harness I made to jumper the '98 engine compartment harnesses to the '88 dash. An '04 should be similar. It came out upside down because when I first put it in the scanner, it tried to eat the paper. I turned it around with the good edge of the paper into the scanner. Use the View option to get the correct orientation.

I have called Dunne their harness does not provide a connection to the intercooler pump nor can you connect the 2003 dash cluster.

I cant see driving without knowing the speed.

im using MC machine's gauge panel with autometer's, if you plan on using the cobra cluster, plan on using the full cobra harness, or be prepared for lots of cutting and splicing. as far as intercooler pump, you can wire that in on a relay with a 10 or 15 amp fuse.

I will be using the stock cobra cluster. MC machine looks very nice but that means more money $165 + gauges. I prefer to stay with cobra cluster but it does not mean I am married to it.
It all comes down to $$$$$ as always.

Can you send me a pic of your instrument panel?
what did the electronic gauges set you back $$$?
which relay did you use for the intercooler?
Did the dunne rite harness allow you run the speedo or was that set outside the harness? it is my understanding that the PCM on the cobra send the pulses to the stock cluster.

Thaks for your help

i bet i have about 1200 into gauges. ill take a pic soon! i just run a relay off a key on circuit, ad long as you don't leave your key on all the time without engine running, you wont have a problem, otherwise run a relay off a key on engine running circuit. i am going to use the baumman us shift trans controller with a 4r70w and it has a speedo output. you can use the pcm output to the cluster on the 03/04 pcm, just need to find the pin location on the connector.

Yeah $1200. Too rich for me when I have Perfectly working 03 cluster. I guess I am on to splicing the wires.

In the process of getting the 03 cluster to work. Do you guys know which pins the cluster uses from the PCM to get its info?
I am sure the cluster gets power from somewhere besides the PCM Any ideas for power?

Thanks for all your help so far it's been interesting and learning along the way.

Well is not going to well.

I thought I had all the harnesses but in fact I am missing the dash wire harness.

To get the cluster to light up you need the body harness which I have to connect to the dash harness which I don't.

The engine and ecu harness I have but of course I am missing the dash one.

I would like to just buy Dunne rite harness and sell everything else to offset the cost but the idea of spending $ 700 + in aftermarket gauges that don't look stock does not fit well with me.

It's a dilemma I have to figure out soon. The swap is complete car is just sitting in garage waiting for a harness.

Thanks for asking.

At least this forum is filled with real enthusiast that care and not like other forums were people swear and argue.

Thanks again to everyone that has shed some light.

I remember meeting you and your son at the Dunkin' Donut. Hope the CD I gave you has helped.

I'll be heading up to New Hampshire in October for the FourEyedPride Fall Foliage Cruise with the Futura

Yes it has helped. Thanks

I just have to find the dash harness. After market gauges aren't my cup of tea. Not just because of cost but looks. I want factory look.

I am going the same route you are with my swap. It sounds like you are a little further ahead of me. I will be interested in how you make the harness work. I am pulling the IRS back out hopefully tonight to plumb fuel line and so on.
